Hajj Project Pilgrims (KSA)

Having successfully completed the first large-scale Iris Identification project at the Hajj Airport for Pilgrims on their yearly visit to Mecca in early 2002, BioID Technologies is successfully extending that experience to further Airports (Border Control) where rapid enrollment and (token-less) identification is key.

UNHCR Refugee Identification System

Working with the United Nations in Geneva (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and in cooperation with Iridian Technologies, BioID developed a Refugee Identification System for the UNHCR operations in Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2002. Its purpose is to prevent refugee from applying multiple times for UNHCR travel assistance. By developing and implementing an anonymous Iris Recognition enrollment application, individuals that apply twice (recyclers) are identified within seconds without the need of tokens or ID documents. The project is operational covering multiple sites across Pakistan and Afghanistan and with more than 950,000 individuals enrolled it constitutes the larges Iris Recognition implementation to date and be expanded to 1.000,000 individuals during the course of 2006.

UNDP Registration System DR Congo

In 2004 BioID implemented a turnkey registration system for UNCP in DR Congo. In order to carry out the registration, identification and subsequent data management, UNDP has implemented a biometric registration and identification system combined with an ID card issue and database management component and central database for registering 20.000 ex-combatants in Five Transit Sites in the region of Ituri (north-east of DRC). The pilot was extended to a rollout across 23 sites in Congo during 2005 and 2006 with currently 140,000 individuals enrolled.
